Sri Lanka 4 Days Ancient Capital Tour

You will be warmly welcomed by our Sanki Leisure Chauffer at greeters area located in departure of Bandaranayke International Airport and transferred to your first destination “Anuradhapura” the First Capital of Sri Lanka and a UNESCO world heritage site. In the afternoon you will be taken on a city tour. During this tour you will witness the Brazen Palace which was 9 stories high and the tallest building in the island for over a millennium between 155BC and 993AD ever found. The 2000 years old Sri Maha Bodhi, the Bo Tree grew from the branch of the very tree beneath which the Buddha attained enlightenment. You will also be able to witness the surrounding statues, ruins of building structures while traveling in the city of Anuradhapura. Return back to your hotel for a lovely dinner and overnight stay.

Wake up to a nice warm morning followed by the freshly prepared breakfast. Your Chauffer will be in the lobby to take you to more locations in Anuradhapura. The first visit will be to the Ruwanweli Saaya (a Pagoda) build in 140 B.C. The 103 meters tall and 290 meters circumference shrine containing the Buddha’s collar bone relic. The next visit will be the Jetawanaeamaya the world’s tallest stupa, Abhayagiriya temple followed by the Samadhi Budda one of the great masterpieces known around the world carved out of stone and Kuttam Pokuna (the twin ponds).

In the afternoon you will be taken to Polonnaruwa. Being the second capital city of ancient Sri Lanka in the 11th and 12th centuries and another UNESCO world heritage site, the city is full of monuments and ancient ruins. Sanki Leisure Chauffeur will take you to visit the ruins of Lankathilaka viharaya built in 3rd century AD, Royal palace, Thuparama temple, and Gal Vihare consist of three statues in three different postures of the Lord Buddha Carved out of a giant rock. You will also get the opportunity to visit the Tivanke image house with best known Buddhist frescoes of Sri Lanka, Lotus Bath and the man made Prakrama Samudra built by great king Prakrama Bahu. The Chauffer will escort you to your next destination which is Sigiriya to spend a cozy night after your dinner.

Enjoy a good breakfast and jump in to a comfort ware suits for climbing. First visit of your 3rd day will start at the world famous Sigiriya rock fortress also known as “Lions Rock” made on a massive column of rock nearly 200 meters high. Climb to the top through a combination of the safely built and original rock steps of the palace while witnessing the beautiful frescos and the remaining made in 477 – 495 CE. Once reaching the top observe the surrounding and you will find the we organized old ruins of city structure of the kingdom of Sigiriya.

Next is Dambulla, where the famous cave temple complex resides. The cave complex dates back to first century BCE, contains murals covers an area of 2,100 square meters.

On your way from Dambulla to Kandy, Chauffer will stop at a spice garden where you will get a nice head and shoulder massage to relax your body after a long day. The herbal tea will also help you to quench your thirst. Soon as reaching to the last kingdom Kandy, you will be able to pay a visit to the Sacred temple of Tooth which houses the relic of the tooth of the Buddha. Before finishing up the day you will be able to witness the Cultural Dance show and check in to the hotel for a good night sleep.

Chauffer will pick you up from your hotel after a good breakfast to take you around the Kandy Lake and top of the upper lake drive where you can see the present busy city and its surrounding. After City tour you will be taken towards the commercial capital city, Colombo. En route you will be able to visit the Royal Botanical Garden at Peradeniya where you find many varieties of Orchids and other plants grown. In between the Royal Botanical Garden and Colombo Chauffer will take a small turn to let you meet up with the Asian Elephants. Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage was founded to care and protect the many orphaned wounded wild elephants and is a perfect place for you to get closer to these calm gigantic beasts. After seeing them been bathed, fed, and perhaps after a small ride on one of them you will continue the journey to your last destination of this trip, Colombo for a city tour and then to airport or straight to airport from Pinnawala depending on your flight schedule to conclude your short but memorable holiday.
